From a coworker

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the tradewinds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
-Mark Twain

KL: "i've always liked that quote, and i hope that you can pursue all the things that you are passionate about."

Consider my afternoon inspired.

"Failure's hard, but success is far more dangerous. If you're successful at the wrong thing, the mix of praise and money and opportunity can lock you in forever." - Po Bronson

This quote summarizes why the fact that I was laid off could be one of the major blessings of my life. The temptations of money and relative success are powerful. However, if your talents and gifts are not being used to their fullest potential, then the road we travel called "the pursuit of happiness" will be significantly more rocky.

"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself - nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance."

A laugh

Overheard while walking by two NYC men in conversation:

"I wonder if Jack Bauer will be at the inauguration in D.C. today."
